Invitation to Sabbath Rest
Due to past experience, many of us perceive Sabbath as something that centers around rules--what activities are allowed and what are not allowed. Jesus‘ intention was for Sabbath to provide us rest, refreshment and rejuvenation. We will explore together God’s intent for Sabbath ("On the seventh day God rested from all the work he had done")--why it is his special gift to us. We will look at our own practices and begin to pay attention individually to what refreshes our souls, nourishes our bodies and revitalizes our hearts and minds in the midst of a busy, frenetic world.
To Ponder..."For this is the reason why those who deliberately occupy themselves with earthly business, constantly seeking worldly well-being, have not God's rest in their souls; for they love and seek their rest in this thing which is so little and in which there is not rest, and do not know God who is almighty, all wise and all good, for He is true rest. God wishes to be known, and it pleases Him that we should rest in Him."
